Queen Naikidevi v/s Muhammad Ghor (Ghazni)

Incredible Ancient India (UNTOLD STORIES) WESTERN DATA (Genesis / Gemini AI) : The Battle of Kasahrada (1178 CE) was a major conflict fought near Mount Abu in modern-day Rajasthan, where the Rajput Confederacy led by the Chaulukya (Solanki) dynasty of Gujarat decisively defeated the invading forces of Muhammad of Ghor

Key Historical Facts

· T  The Combatants: The Rajput alliance included the Chaulukyas of Gujarat, the Chahamanas of Naddula and Jalor, and the Paramaras of Abu. They faced the Ghurid Empire's army under Muhammad of Ghor.

·         Leadership: While Mularaja II was the nominal king, the forces were famously commanded by his mother and regent, Queen Naikidevi. Legendary accounts often describe her leading the charge with her infant son on her lap.

·         Tactics and Terrain: The battle occurred at the Gadararaghatta pass. The Rajputs used the narrow hilly terrain to neutralize the Ghurids' superior cavalry. Already exhausted from a long march across the Thar Desert, the Ghurid army was routed.

·         Impact: This defeat was so severe that Muhammad of Ghor was wounded and fled back to Ghazni. He abandoned his plans to invade India via Gujarat and subsequently focused on the Khyber Pass route into Punjab.

The Second Battle of Kasahrada (1197 CE)

Nearly 20 years later, a second battle occurred at the same site.

·         Belligerents: This time, the Ghurid forces were led by Qutubuddin Aibak. They faced the Rajput forces under Bhima II.

Outcome: The Ghurids won this encounter, sacking the Chaulukya capital of Anhilwara to avenge Ghori's earlier defeat.
